Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become a professional actor since she was six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute that offers part-time classes. The actress had performed in several Stagecoach or school shows before she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these roles. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 The film broke records in its first day sales as well as its opening weekend earnings. Critics have praised both the film and the performance by three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Emma later won five awards to honor her role in the movie.
